JOHN M KAMYA
John M. Kamya is an accomplished businessman, Certified Public Accountant (CPA-US) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA-US) with an extensive career in finance, accounting, and business leadership. His career began at Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers - PWC) in Portland, Oregon, USA, where he excelled, including a secondment to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in New York City, as an AICPA examiner. Following PWC, he joined KPMG in a Senior Manager capacity in Washington DC. At PWC and KPMG, he led multiple teams on Fortune 500, Fortune 100 and Federal and State Government assurance and consulting engagements
John later left KPMG to co-found Gardiner, Kamya & Associates, PC, (www. gkacpa.com - “GKA”), which he built into a prominent Washington D.C.- based firm with over 300 professionals, and one of the largest minority-owned CPA/Management Consulting firms in the US. GKA has over the years provided assurance and management consulting services to many Federal and District of Columbia government agencies. His entrepreneurial journey continued with the founding of MacArthur & Baker International, Inc. (www.mbicfs.com) which specializes in consulting services to the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank and US Federal Agencies.
Furthermore, John co-founded MBI Health Services LLC (www.mbihs. com - “MBI”) and MBI Health Services Inc (www.mbihsca.com), with headquarters in Washington DC and Los Angeles, CA, respectively. The two respected and prominent health-care companies employ more than 1,600 staff in the U.S. and MBI is one of the largest health care services providers in Washington DC.
He also founded and is Chairman of Hamilton Telecom Ltd, (www.hamiltel. com) a licensed Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) in Uganda, and Hamilton Mobile Commerce Uganda Limited (a mobile money services provider). His leadership and business acumen span multiple sectors, impacting enterprises across continents and industries. Over the years, John has made significant investments in Africa, and particularly in Uganda. In addition, he has made significant contributions to African and Ugandan society through the building of schools, libraries, churches and community centers. John always encourages and supports entrepreneurs in the diaspora to invest in Africa.
